Preaching in the Pulpit at the Summer Fellowship Conference
Preaching in the Pulpit at the Summer Fellowship Conference
Yes what it is to be able to preach a sermon from a pulpit to your peers! One of the joys and benefits of attending the Summer Conference is going through Heath Pucel's expository preaching class called "Keep Your Finger in the Text".
During the week Heath assigns the evangelists a couple of texts from which to prepare a sermon. Each evangelist prepares and preaches his sermon to the other evangelists to be critiqued by them.
This is wonderfully beneficially to your minister to be subjected to critique by your peers whom you know. They are is an extra layer(s) of scrutiny and pressure that you don't have when preaching in the open air.
Plus you have the opportunity to critique everyone else's sermons. In that process you learn to apply Heath's teachings from a different angle.
The entire process does create an environment to help each evangelist become a better preacher.
